Stanislaus County residents could receive a little help getting home safely this New Year’s Eve. A Beverly Hills-based law firm is offering vouchers for discounted Uber rides during peak holiday hours, aiming to reduce impaired driving.

the firm is providing vouchers to residents in 19 California counties, including Stanislaus, to promote safety during New Year’s festivities.

Daniel Setareh, an injury attorney at Setareh Law, explained the motivation behind the initiative. “We see so many tragic deaths as an inevitable result of drunk driving and we figured it’s a good way to give back to the community and promote safety,” Setareh said. “Basically I’m hoping that if we can help one person have a safe ride without getting into an accident, we will have done our job.”

Modesto’s troubling Statistics

Modesto has a concerning history with alcohol-related vehicle incidents. According to the California Office of Traffic Safety, there were 670 alcohol-related injuries or deaths in Stanislaus County in 2023, with 224 occurring specifically in Modesto.

Setareh Law, while headquartered in Beverly Hills, also maintains an office in downtown Modesto. The firm’s attorneys have witnessed firsthand the devastating consequences of impaired driving.

“We’ve dealt with many, many tragic fatalities and other catastrophic injuries,” Setareh said.

How to Claim a Voucher

The vouchers will discount Uber trips by $20, encouraging people to choose a safe option to driving under the influence. Interested riders in Stanislaus County can apply by filling out a form and then entering the voucher code in the Uber app. The offer is valid for trips starting or ending in stanislaus County, or other eligible counties, between 5 p.m. on December 31 and 10 a.m. on January 1.

To be eligible,riders must be 21 years or older and have an active uber account. Vouchers are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
