Modi a leader of division, India in the furnace of religious conflict: BBC | National | Deshabhimani

London
The BBC documentary shouted to the world that the Narendra Modi-led BJP government came back to power through the path of communalism and communal division. The second part of the documentary ‘India: The Modi Question’ also rips off the face of the Modi government and the Sangh Parivar. The second part of the documentary was aired by the BBC after the Centre’s move to suppress the first part of the documentary from the social media failed. BBC assesses Modi as “the most divisive leader” in the country. “Modi’s India” is in the furnace of religious conflict. Even though the court got a clean chit in the Gujarat genocide, the concern continues unabated.

After Modi came back to power in 2019, the BBC enumerates the steps taken to polarize religion. Part II deals with malicious legislation, minority pogroms by Hindutvaists, mob killings in the name of cow protection, Delhi communal riots and action against Amnesty International. Relatives of the victims of riots and attacks, academics, journalists, public activists etc. show their faces in the documentary.

When religious minorities and other vulnerable groups became victims of brutal attacks and lynchings, those who were supposed to protect them became spectators. After Modi came to power, media freedom faced severe challenge. The BBC also assessed that voluntary organizations had to stop working.
