Kochi: All the three accused, including her husband, have been remanded in connection with the suicide case of Mofia Parveen. The Aluva Magistrate’s Court remanded Mohammad Suhail (27), father-in-law Yusuf (63) and mother-in-law Rukhia (55) at Iramallur Kuttilanji Malekudi house. The accused were shifted to Kakkanad district jail.

The accused were produced before the court around 10.30 am on Thursday. The accused were brought to the court under high security considering the possibility of clashes. He was then produced before a magistrate’s chamber.

Meanwhile, the police have filed an application seeking custody of the accused for five days. The police custody application has been filed stating that the case needs an in-depth investigation and the accused should be questioned in detail. It is alleged that the accused demanded dowry and assaulted the girl. Therefore, the custody application states that a detailed inquiry is required in these matters. The court will consider the custody application only after hearing the arguments of the respondent.

The three accused were taken into police custody around midnight on Tuesday. The three went into hiding after Mofia’s suicide. The accused were apprehended from a relative’s house at Uppukandam, Kothamangalam.
