Mohammedia: The promotion of school libraries at the heart of the INDH’s priorities

As part of the implementation of Phase III programs of the INDH, in particular “Program 4: Impulse of Human Capital of Rising Generations”, the Prefectural Human Development Committee (CPDH) of Mohammedia has set up 10 school libraries all equipping them with various books and office equipment, in line with efforts aimed at reducing the phenomenon of school dropout and improving the quality of education for students.

In this regard, the school library, set up within the premises of the “Oum Al Banine” primary school in the commune of Beni Yakhlef in Mohammedia, is an incarnation of the pioneering role of the INDH in the field of support to schooling.

This school library is also a model of CPDH actions, for carrying out a certain number of projects aimed at promoting schooling and improving the quality of related services.

The school library project is part of the implementation of INDH programs at the prefecture level, under the fourth program relating to supporting and promoting the development of young people and children, indicated, in a statement to MAP, Ismail Ouammou, head of department at the Social Action Division at the prefecture of Mohammedia.

To this end, the CPDH set up and supported 10 school libraries in public schools for a total cost of 670,361 dirhams, of which more than 380,000 dirhams were allocated to equipment, he added.

For his part, Hamid Karaani, director of the “Oum Al Banine” primary school, indicated that the school library is the result of a partnership between the provincial management and the CPDH, emphasizing the central role of school libraries in promoting of the culture of reading, the improvement of academic results and the consolidation of acquired knowledge.
