Balaramapuram: Mohanan Nair’s face, whose memories have faded so much that he cannot recall it, will be happy to hear Mohanlal. The glow of being a family companion for 28 years.
Lal’s father Viswanathan Nair was the driver of Mohanan Nair’s residence at Mudavanmughal at Mannarakalvila house in Pallichal Parurkuzhi. Later became a part of Lal’s film tours.
It was Mohanan Nair who used to deliver to the shooting set and back home. He recalls once coming home exhausted from a shoot and unknowingly fell asleep with his head on his lap. It was Mohanan Nair who took him to learn kalari in the Pallichal traditional Marmakalari he knew. Mohanan Nair is a descendant of Pallichal Pillai, one of the eight family members.
Lal’s friends M.G. Sreekumar, Priyadarshan, Jagadish and producer Suresh Kumar came to the house and shared friendship even at the age of 82, Lal’s bada driver has a faint memory.
It was Mohanan Nair who befriended Anthony Perumbavoor with Lal. Antony Perumbavoor came to the role after suffering from typhoid and partial paralysis along with physical ailments.
When Anthony Perumbavoor handed over the keys to the old ambassador’s car, his heart was heavy. He was so sad to leave Lal.
Couldn’t go that day
He knew that Lal had arrived at the Bhagwatinada bungalow in Sutvechankovil, two kilometers away from the shooting of Prithviraj’s Lucifer, but could not go and see it due to ill health. When Parameswaran Pillai and mother died at Ilankat house, Lal and his family had come. Mohanan Nair is resting at home with his wife Vijayakumari after the marriage of three daughters and a son. It’s no wonder if the star king comes calling Chetta like Mammootty came to Srinivasan in the movie “Kathapariyandla”.
