Monaco comes out “grows” from this positive result in Marseille Clement

by time news

Philippe Clement is disappointed not to win at the Vélodrome against OM but also wants to retain the positive.

Philippe Clement, Monaco coach, who held Marseille 1-1 at the Stade Vélodrome:

«We played a great first period, with and without the ball. There were good races, intensity, good technical gestures, personality, collective discipline and organization. But Marseille have a lot of quality and experience and we can’t play two halves like that yet. There could have been two, three or four goals in the first half. But we knew that Marseille would come back very motivated. And it’s hard to take a goal from the start.

But the team grows by learning to manage these types of situations and we stayed in the game, we pushed to win. So I’m disappointed not to take three points, the locker room too. But we must be happy and proud of our personality. We have a very young team, which is growing month after month. We must continue like this. When you see the two matches against Marseille, we can take six points. This is not the case (during the first leg, Monaco lost 3-2, editor’s note) but we must look forward. We have to improve by killing this game. That’s what great teams do. Ben Yedder is out because I know there are three matches this week.»
