Monaco reinstates suspended caregivers

by time news

While France is still deep in thought on the subject, the Principality of Monaco has just taken the decision to suspend the compulsory vaccination of caregivers. Suspended staff may be reinstated as of March 27.

Considering the favorable evolution of the Covid-19 epidemic recorded for several months, the Prince’s Government has decided to lighten the health measures in force“, explain, in a press release of this Thursday, March 9, the Monegasque authorities.

Lifting of the vaccination obligation for nursing staff

The Monegasque government anticipates the lifting of the vaccination obligation against Covid provided for by aloi from September 20, 2021. This text provides for the possibility of suspending, or even dismissing, any staff who do not wish to operate a complete vaccination scheme against Covid-19.

53 people concerned

Christophe Robino, member of the National Council of Monaco, noted that 53 caregivers are currently suspended in the Principality: 38 caregivers who worked at the CHPG (Princess Grace Hospital Center), 3 liberal professionals in town and 12 carers working in personal services.

A census which may seem low in comparison with that of France, but it should be noted that in Monaco, all non-vaccinated caregivers have not been suspended for all that. “We made a distinction between caregivers who had a contraindication to vaccination for a cause beyond their control. And the caregivers who did not want to be vaccinated out of conviction ”,explained Christophe Robino last December. Those who had a contraindication to vaccination against Covid-19 were assigned to positions that were not in contact with particularly fragile patients.

Even if this announcement remains excellent news for the 53 staff concerned, it is unfortunately too late to reinstate the caregivers who have already resigned or who have been made redundant.

Staff have already resigned, been made redundant or retrained

If the vaccination obligation ends, so much the better for those who have been suspended. But we find ourselves two years later with staff who were dismissed at the time and who will not return (…) After two years without pay, the suspended agents have undoubtedly found another job. Some have changed course “, laments theunion of hospital workers dand Munich.

What we regret is the way the staff were suspended, or even had to resign“, continues the union, which estimates, in its ranks, to “Several dozens” the number of agents concerned.

And in France ?

On the French side, the HAS must give its opinion relating to the lifting of the vaccination obligation against Covid-19 at the end of the month. A national demonstration is organized this Saturday, March 11 in Lyon to demand thereinstatement of suspended professionals.
