The French striker Monaco Wissam Ben Yedder has been charged with “rape, attempted rape and sexual assault” over events that took place in early July on France’s French Riviera, the Nice prosecutor’s office said on Friday.
Ben Yedder, 32, was placed under judicial control and had to pay “a bail of 900,000 euros” (about R$4.8 million at current exchange rates), he told AFP the Public Ministry of Nice, confirming initial information from the newspaper nice morning.
Ben Yedder has been at Monaco since 2019, when he transferred from Sevilla. The player has also played for Toulouse, Alfortville and Saint-Denis, all French clubs.
