After the electoral period, and the warnings he received from the Central Electoral Board (JEC), there is no purpose of amendment in Moncloa. The Government continues to mistake the forum and using the press conference after the Council of Ministers to attack the opposition leader. Forgetting the proper institutional tone and that from that table represents all Spaniards, both those who voted for them on 23J and those who did not, the Executive used the loudspeaker it holds -despite being in office- to discredit the attempt by Alberto Núñez Feijóo to submit to the investiture.

These attacks follow in the wake of those already spilled in recent days and weeks, in which the company to form the government of the PP leader has been described as “fake”, despite having been commissioned to do so by King Felipe VI. Although there are no changes in this, the inconsistency lies in describing the round of contacts of the popular candidate as “paripé” and “folklore” only 24 hours before raising it to the highest level with the participation in it of the acting president of the Government and secretary socialist general. Both will meet this Wednesday at 10 in the morning in the Congress of Deputies.

After assuring that Sánchez assumes this meeting with “absolute institutional respect and with democratic normality”, highlighting the “absolute availability and immediacy” in the response he gave to the PP candidate, the government spokesperson, Isabel Rodríguez, attacked the popular candidate comparing this “immediacy” of Sánchez when it comes to answering with the “dilatory attitude” of Feijóo, who “has asked for a month to gain time, we don’t know why.”

And he does it, he continued, “knowing that he is going to lose, that he is facing an investiture that is known to have failed from the beginning”, as he himself has confessed, he added. “Why then make us Spaniards waste our time?” He asked himself, then emphasizing: “It will be a failed investiture”, a “paripé for all the folklore that is being done around it”.

For his part, he expressed the will of the Executive that a progressive government can be formed as soon as possible to respond to what the polls expressed on July 23. Asked about respect for the list with the most votes that Feijóo is expected to ask Sánchez for, she recalled that the PP has not done so for the formation of autonomous governments and that they are equally legitimate, because constitutionally a parliamentary system governs.
