Mondadori’s revenues in the half-year rise to 387.2 million – Italy-World

(ANSA) – MILAN, JULY 31 – Mondadori closed the first half of the year with consolidated net revenues of 387.2 million euros, up 6.8% compared to the same period last year. Net of the change in scope resulting from the consolidation of the companies Star Shop and Chelsea Green Publishing, organic revenue growth was 3.8%. The adjusted net result was 9 million euros, up approximately 6% compared to the first half of 2023. The adjusted gross operating margin (EBITDA) rose to 40.9 million, with an increase of 7% compared to the 38.2 million euros of the first half of 2023, mainly thanks to the trade books, retail and media areas. Solid cash generation was confirmed with ordinary cash flow of approximately 67 million euros. The group confirms its forecasts for 2024, both with reference to economic and financial data. In the trade books area, the first half of the year shows a trend in the book market in terms of value of substantial stability compared to the previous year (-0.1%); the activities of the school business recorded overall revenues of 61.1 million euros (+5.7%); the retail area recorded revenues of 91.4 million (+8.9%); revenues of the Media area amounted to 72 million euros (+5%), the result of strong growth in the digital component. “The first half of 2024 closed with a solid economic and financial performance that allows us to confirm our forecasts for the 2024 financial year”, says Antonio Porro, CEO and general manager of the Mondadori group. “The growth – he adds – recorded by the Trade and Retail Books business units was higher than that of the Book market”.
