In a statement to MAP, on the occasion of the official designation, Wednesday, of Morocco, Portugal and Spain as host countries of the 2030 World Cup by the FIFA Congress, meeting in extraordinary session, Ms. El Moutawakel noted that the choice of Morocco highlights the leadership of the Kingdom, under the enlightened leadership of HM the king, to make sport a tool for strengthening international relations and establishing a new model of partnerships.
The former Olympic champion indicated that this choice is the culmination of the development that Morocco is experiencing in terms of infrastructure and the association of major events, noting that the Kingdom, as the enthronement of HM the King, advocates an ambitious and integrated vision aimed at strengthening its position as a preferred global sports destination.
Ms. El Moutawakel specified that this Enlightened Vision places sustainability at the heart of planning, with emphasis on socio-economic development, job creation and the encouragement of young people to practice sports, stressing that organization of the World Cup remains a “strategic national project”.
