This Friday, Munetsi, who arrived in Reims in 2019, extended his contract for an additional year. He is now tied to SDR until 2027. In his new contract, a new clause has been added. It is original and unique. For each kilometer traveled by number 15, Reims undertakes to donate 100 euros to the Marshall Munetsi Foundation. The operation begins this Saturday during the meeting Reims – Lille at the Stade Auguste. Throughout the match, spectators and television viewers will be able to follow live the number of kilometers traveled by Marshall Munetsi as well as his monetization displayed in real time on the LED panels and the giant screens of the stadium.
“We don’t just extend the player, but also the man,” explains Mathieu Lacour, general manager of the Stade de Reims. Say like that, it may sound cliché, which is why it was important to follow the words with concrete actions. For years Marshall has been working in Zimbabwe through his foundation, not hesitating to donate part of his salary for charitable purposes. The idea was to add a new clause in his contract, a kind of mileage bonus in order to symbolically show him our commitment but also to support and encourage this type of individual initiative”.
