New Delhi: Indian shooter Manu Bhaker has created history by winning two bronze medals in the Paris Olympics. She has become the first Indian athlete after independence to achieve this feat. After this brilliant performance, brands are now running after Manu. According to a TOI report, about 40 brands have shown interest in Manu. A deal worth crores is going to be signed with her. Manu’s journey has been no less than a rollercoaster. She was disappointed in the Tokyo Olympics. But, she did not give up. She came back after spending holidays with her family and proved herself. After three years of hard work, she won two bronze medals in the Paris Olympics.
Manu’s victory has drawn the attention of the advertising world towards him. CEO of IOS Sports and Entertainment, Nirav Tomar, said that Manu’s brand value has increased five to six times. Earlier he used to get a deal of Rs 20-25 lakh. Whereas now there is talk of up to Rs 1.5 crore for one year.
Some challenges have come after success
However, this success has also brought some challenges. Many brands have used Manu’s photo without permission. After this, IOS Sports and Entertainment had to send about 50 legal notices. Tomar said, ‘This is a completely unprofessional attitude on the part of Indian companies. Many of these include big brands as well.’
There was a flood of brands to associate with Manu
At present, there is a flood of short-term digital deals, but IOS Sports’ focus is on long-term deals. Tomar said, ‘We have received about 40 inquiries in the last 2-3 days. Our focus is on long-term deals. We are about to sign agreements with some brands.’
Tomar also said that the Olympics are a great opportunity for athletes of sports like shooting to make their mark. We get many medals in shooting in the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games. But then this excitement fades. You look different in the Olympics. By winning two medals, you outshine everyone.
