Among them are Maria Kristin, Debby Susanto, Kevin Sanjaya, Liliyana Natsir, Tontowi Ahmad, Liem Swie King, Richard Mainaky, Ivana Lee, and Susy Susanti. They monitor the talents of the participants who are considered worthy of getting a Super Ticket and advancing to the quarantine stage.
Maria Kristin, the 2008 Beijing Olympics bronze medalist, also monitored as the Women’s Athlete Talent Search Team, appreciating the thousands of participants who had sweated and exerted their best abilities to advance to the next stage. She assessed that quite a few of the young athletes had quite good techniques and high fighting spirit.
“This year’s audition was quite interesting, with their young age, it turns out their enthusiasm is extraordinary and not infrequently those who are still young U-11 also have quite good techniques. My criteria, for female athletes, are in terms of technique, footwork, and most importantly, fighting spirit on the field. Because fighting spirit must be accompanied by consistency,” said Maria when met at the Djarum Jati GOR, Kudus, Central Java, Thursday (12/9).
In addition, as a figure who has trained athletes who graduated from the General Audition, another element that is no less important is motivation. Because, not a few of those who have just joined as athletes trained by PB Djarum feel complacent and satisfied with their achievements. In fact, when officially undergoing training and coaching at the PB Djarum dormitory, it is the first step to embarking on a long journey.
“They must be able to maintain their motivation. Don’t let it happen that when undergoing the General Audition selection their motivation is high, but when they enter PB Djarum their motivation actually decreases. Because there are still many series of processes that they must go through, starting from technical, physical, mental training, even participating in tournaments,” said Maria.
Maria hopes that the athletes from the General Audition will be able to make new history at the Olympics and maintain the chain of regeneration of female athletes in Indonesia. “Hopefully the achievements that I and Gregoria Mariska Tunjung have achieved at the Olympics can continue and even be higher by winning a gold medal at the Olympics,” said the winner of the 2007 Sea Games Individual gold medal.
At the PB Djarum General Audition, Maria Kristin and Debby Susanto also underwent a meet and greet session with participants from various regions in the country on Thursday (12/9). They greeted, signed autographs, and took pictures with the audition participants. According to Debby Susanto, this made her nostalgic, remembering the past when she was young and met her idol athlete.
