The World Health Organization has declared that monkeypox is no longer an international emergency after cases of infection fell by up to 90%.

Through the official Twitter account of the OMSit was reported that after 10 months of monitoring, monkeypox (previously called monkeypox) is no longer considered a national emergency.

It is estimated that around 87,00 people were infected in 111 countries, with the exception that monkeypox only claimed 140 lives.

America was the continent with the most infections of monkeypox, counting more than 59,000 cases, where only 30,154 were registered in the United States.

The WHO director stressed that although it is no longer a national emergency, monitoring must be maintained, as in the case of Covid 19, whose health emergency was declared over on May 5, 2023.

It is estimated that monkeypox could be controlled thanks to the rapid attention of the health authorities who informed the population about the way in which this virus is spread, as well as its symptoms and treatment.

Thus, after a joint effort worldwide, the WHO points out that the observation and monitoring protocols must remain in force and updated to avoid outbreaks or the emergence of new diseases.
