Monroe County Veterans Honored at Second Annual Parade

Patriotism was on full display in Rochester, N.Y. on Saturday morning as the Monroe County Veterans Day Parade took place. The parade celebrated the more than 32,000 veterans who live in the county, as local marching bands, law enforcement, and other groups paraded through the streets in their honor.

The highlight of the event was a special service at the Vietnam Memorial in Gary Beikirch Memorial Park, paying homage to all those who have served in the armed forces. The parade has become an annual tradition in Monroe County, as it provides an opportunity for families of veterans to come together and show support for their local heroes.

Catherine Lennox, a Webster resident and daughter of a veteran, expressed the importance of the parade, stating, “As a daughter of a veteran, it is very heartwarming, very important and it means a lot to me because we loved our father very much and he was our hero. So, it is good to see that everybody feels the same way about vets, I hope.”

The parade’s grand marshal was Sheriff Todd Baxter, himself an Army veteran. His role in leading the procession was symbolic of the county’s commitment to honoring and recognizing the sacrifices made by all those who have served in the military.

The second annual Veterans Day parade in Monroe County not only provided an opportunity for the community to come together and show their appreciation for veterans, but also served as a reminder of the importance of recognizing the dedication and bravery of those who have served their country.
