The highly anticipated Monster Hunter Wilds has received the Grand Award and the User’s Choice Award at the PlayStation Partner Awards 2025 Japan asia, held in Tokyo on December 3.The accolades come after a period of intense development and community engagement, with developers actively addressing concerns raised following the game’s initial release on February 28.
Addressing initial Concerns & Celebrating Community Input
Following its launch, the development team acknowledged player feedback regarding the game’s difficulty and overall experience. “We received a lot of opinions from players, and we took them vrey seriously,” stated a developer during the awards ceremony. “We understand that some players found the game too easy, while others experienced challenges in different areas. We’ve been working hard to address these concerns and improve the game for everyone.”
“We were delighted to receive various awards, including Users’ Choice awards,” the developer continued.”We would like to thank all the players who have given their opinions and spoken warm words even in this situation. The development team was able to turn everyone’s feedback into an asset and work on the update with all our strength, and I think the result was also the reason why players voted for us.”
Ongoing Updates & Accessibility Focus
The Monster Hunter franchise is known for its consistent updates, and the team behind Wilds emphasized their commitment to continued improvement. A lead producer stated, “Monster Hunter has the characteristics of a title that gets regular updates, but player opinions were very helpful during the update process, and in order to make Monster Hunter Wilds better, the fans’ voices gave us power. There are still updates left to come, so we will continue to do our best.”
A key focus of these updates has been improving accessibility for new players. The team analyzed pain points experienced by players in previous titles, including Monster Hunter: World, to streamline the experience. “We analyzed what kind of places beginners were stuck in,including Monster Hunter: World,” explained a director on the project. “We have worked on these points in turn to make it easier for new users to clear hurdles such as being able to reach certain monsters or to craft certain types of armor.” New features like Focus Mode were implemented to benefit both newcomers and veteran hunters.
However, the team acknowledged that this focus on accessibility may have inadvertently softened the experience for long-time fans. “This time, as a result of making the game easy to beat even for new players and players who could not clear it before, I think the difficulty curve was a little lacking for existing users,” the director admitted. Subsequent updates have prioritized adding more challenging content, with a direct appeal to players who completed the game at launch: “If you beat the game promptly after its release and stopped playing, I would appreciate it if you could pick it up again.”
The Future of Monster Hunter
Celebrating its 20th anniversary last year, the Monster Hunter series has experienced important growth, particularly following the success of Monster Hunter: World in 2018. Looking ahead, the team is committed to expanding the franchise beyond its current form.
“Of course, we don’t intend to stop the series here. We plan to continue, and we want to let more people play,” a senior official stated. “in addition, I would like to think about things beyond the games so that we can further expand the potential of the Monster Hunter IP.”
When asked about the series’ position within Capcom’s portfolio, the official responded diplomatically, stating, “Capcom is a company with various IPs, and every IP is very crucial. I’m in charge of Monster Hunter now, that’s all I can comment on, but as Capcom, we want to expand all our IPs.” Capcom has a robust release schedule planned, including Resident Evil Requiem, Onimusha Way of the Sword, and Pragmata in 2026.
the success of Monster Hunter Wilds at the PlayStation Partner Awards 2025 underscores the power of community feedback and the enduring appeal of this beloved franchise, signaling a radiant future for hunters worldwide.
