Montale began writing for Corriere in 1946: articles of literary criticism, short stories and even news items. From 1954 on this multifaceted activity he added an intense activity as a music critic: for many years he reviewed all the inaugurations of the Scala season. Montale’s passion for opera was an authentic passion, born as a child, cultivated in Genoa by the Carlo Felice gallery and caressed in the youthful dream of becoming an opera singer. This meeting intends to start from the re-enactment of this lesser-known Montalian activity to reflect on the role of music criticism and its evolution from the 1950s to today. Enrico Girardi, Luca Rossi, Angelo Foletto and maestro Donato Renzetti will talk about it.
