An investigation for attempted murder has been opened. A 25-year-old trainee peacekeeper was seriously injured on Saturday evening in Amilly, near Montargis (Loiret) when she was knocked down.

The facts, says La République du Centre, occurred during a traffic check around 11:15 p.m., near a roundabout.

According to France Bleu, which quotes the prosecution, a scooter driver “refused to submit to checks and continued on his way”, then, “he would have carried out a maneuver with his scooter causing him to return in the direction of the police”.

The young woman briefly lost consciousness before being taken care of by the firefighters and transferred to Montargis hospital. She suffers from multiple fractures. She was due for surgery on Sunday morning.

The driver of the scooter has been identified, continues France Bleu. It would be a young man of 18, from the agglomeration of Montargis. He fled, knocking down his passenger. Then he cut across the field and abandoned his two-wheeler.
