A major collision left at least two seriously injured in Ange-Gardien in Montérégie on Saturday evening, causing the closure of route 235.

A face-to-face meeting took place between a van and a car on Route 235, near Rang Séraphine in Ange-Gardien, around 7:15 p.m. on Saturday. One of the two vehicles would have deviated from its lane and ended up in reverse traffic.

Under the force of the impact, the car caught fire. The Rouville MRC police were called to the scene. The two passengers, a man and a woman, had to be extricated from the cabin before being transported to a hospital. They are in critical condition and there is fear for their lives. The steps to establish their identity are still in progress.

The driver of the van suffered minor injuries and was also taken to the nearest hospital.

Route 235 was closed in the area and a bypass was established.

An investigator and a collision investigation police officer were deployed to establish the circumstances of the accident.
