Criticism of the invasion of Ukraine, which began exactly ten months ago, is taboo in Russia. This also includes the use of the word “war”; officially, the term “military special operation” is always used. Those who do not comply are sometimes severely punished. In July, for example, the then Moscow district deputy Alexey Gorinov was sentenced to seven years in prison.
