Guwahati: Assam police sub-inspector Junmoni Rabha has booked his fianc for cheating. Assam police have arrested Rana Pagag, the future groom of the SI, on charges of cheating the SI by giving false information and accepting money from several people by offering fake jobs. He got engaged to SI by lying that he was a PR officer in ONGC. However, the SI found out about the future groom’s fraud in an investigation based on some reports that he was not an ONGC employee.
In addition, it was found that he had taken money from several people saying that he could get a job in ONGC. During a subsequent search, police found ONGC-related forged documents and seals in his home. The fianc was arrested by the SI on charges of cheating while getting married in November this year.
‘Our engagement took place on October 8 last year. After the Assam election, he and his family came home to see me. It was after this that I got transferred to Naga. He told me that he had also been transferred to Silchar. But he said he was not going to work at Silchar. When asked the reason, he replied that he did not want to work in a place far away from his place of work ‘- SI explained.
‘I first saw him in January 2021. He was then approached with a marriage proposal. The engagement took place with the support of both families. Later I got relocated to Naga. But I had some doubts about him and his job, ”said SI.
‘Meanwhile, three people came to see me the other day. They told me some things about him. With this my suspicion was strengthened. He told me that he was the PR officer in charge of CSR at ONGC. The case was registered after it was found to be a lie, ”said Jhumoni Rabha.
