(Montreal) Two armed assaults left three victims last night in Montreal, including a young man who succumbed to his injuries.




According to information provided by the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal, a call was received to 911 at around 1:45 a.m. to report an armed assault on rue Sherbrooke, near the intersection of rue Mansfield, in the borough. of Ville-Marie.

On the spot, the patrollers found two victims wounded by knives, one seriously. They are two men aged 20 and 23.

In the morning, the SPVM confirmed the death of the 23-year-old young man who succumbed to his injuries. He became the 21e homicide victim in Montreal in 2021.

According to the spokesperson for the SPVM, Véronique Dubuc, the other victim was also injured in the upper body, but his life would not be threatened.

When the police arrived, the suspect had fled in an unknown direction. A security perimeter is still erected in the area. A dog handler, forensic identity experts and major crime investigators were still on site in the morning.

Other armed aggression

Earlier in the night, around midnight, another armed attack occurred on Saint-Laurent Boulevard, near de l’Arcade Street, in the Mile-End sector.

According to information gathered by the police, it was an altercation between at least two individuals that led to the assault. The victim, a 19-year-old man, was injured in the upper body by a sharp object.

The young man was taken to hospital for treatment, but there is no fear for his life.

No suspect has been located. Investigators were dispatched to analyze the scene and a canine unit was also called upon.
