LONDON, June 30, 2025 — Star Wars fans are remembering actor Kenneth Colley, who died in July 2025 at age 87, after learning his estate—valued at over £726,000—was distributed among family, friends, and charitable organizations. Colley is best remembered for his chilling portrayal of Admiral Piett in The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983).
A Legacy Beyond the Star Wars Galaxy
Official documents, reviewed just over six months after his passing, revealed the final tally of Colley’s estate at £726,040, slightly down from the initial valuation of £734,408. The bulk of his fortune, including his property in Hythe, Kent, was bequeathed to his sister, Michelle. However, Colley’s generosity extended beyond family, with significant donations made to several causes close to his heart.
Katherine Slater of London received £10,000, while the Rhodes Minnis Cat Sanctuary in Hythe was gifted £2,000. A substantial £20,000 was allocated to the Edith Cavell Fund for Nurses, and Demelza House Children’s Hospice in Sittingbourne received £5,000. The remaining funds were entrusted to Lynn Margaret Shaw, a friend and the estate’s executor, also residing in Hythe.

Colley reportedly cherished his role as Estragon in a 2014 stage production of Samuel Beckett’s Waiting for Godot at the Cockpit Theatre in London. His participation in Star Wars led to numerous invitations to conventions and fan events worldwide, cementing his status as a beloved figure within the franchise.
