Former President Moon said, “It is time to stand together with the people to save the Republic of Korea from the crisis of regression. The key is to expand support,” and added, “Let’s not stop at the current level of support, but expand further to become a party that embraces a wide range of generations and receives even support across the country.”
He continued, “Let us resolutely reject the narrow-minded and exclusive behavior that hinders expansion,” adding, “I hope that each and every one of our party comrades will become the main agents of expansion.”
This can be interpreted as meaning that in order to win the local elections in 26 and the presidential election in 27, we must join forces beyond our party factions. It can be interpreted as meaning that in a situation where the ‘Lee Jae-myung unipolar system’ is strengthening, we must restore diversity within the party and win over the hearts of the moderates. It means that we cannot win the upcoming major election with only the power of a few strong supporters.
Former President Moon said, “Our Democratic Party has a proud history and tradition,” and “It was the center of democratic peace forces that led the democratization of Korean society and peace on the Korean Peninsula, and it valued the economy for ordinary people and opened the way to a welfare state. It took the lead in implementing progressive values such as life, human rights, equality, and the environment, and it consistently worked hard to eliminate gaps, achieve national integration, and achieve balanced national development.”
He also said, “The people also supported the values of our Democratic Party. We have continuously expanded the support of the people and experienced the success of the Kim Dae-jung, Roh Moo-hyun, and Moon Jae-in governments,” and evaluated, “The three Democratic Party governments that we have governed were more capable than any other government in history.”
Former President Moon said, “He saved the Republic of Korea from a national crisis, moved the wheel of history forward, and developed our society in a positive way.” He added, “As can be confirmed by objective indicators, the Democratic Party government has been superior in all areas, including the economy, security, democracy, welfare, crisis management, and safety.”
While the video of former President Moon was being shown, some hard-line party members shouted and protested.
