250 more denounced
in the coup acts of January 8th. So far, 300 people have been judged by the Court’s ministers. Voting takes place in the virtual plenary of the Court and should end at 11:59 pm on May 8.
This is the third set of defendants that are judged by the Court. On April 24, 100 people became defendants, yesterday (2), another 200 defendants also became defendants. All votes took place in virtual mode, where ministers deposit votes electronically and there is no in-person deliberation.
Currently, 294 people are arrested as a result of the coup acts of January 8. Among them, 86 women and 208 men. The day after the invasion, the Federal Police arrested 2,151 people.
The complaints were made by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR). The body submitted 1,390 complaints to the Supreme Court for participating in the acts.
On the afternoon of January 8, the buildings of the National Congress, the Planalto Palace and the Federal Supreme Court (STF) were invaded and vandalized by Bolsonaristas. They protested against Lula’s victory and the use of electronic voting machines.

On April 24, the ministers of the STF decided to make the first 100 defendants defendants. The judgment score was finalized with 8 votes that fully followed the rapporteur for full receipt of the complaints. Ministers André Mendonça and Nunes Marques partially followed the rapporteur.

The same happened in the voting of over 200 denounced ended yesterday. The accused became defendants and only Mendonça and Nunes Marques disagreed with the rest of the ministers.
From now on, criminal actions will be opened, with testimony from witnesses, new evidence and interrogation of the defendants. There is still no determined time for the trial of the accused to be completed.
