“The greatest athletes are people above all. I would like to thank Dawid Kubacki for a great season and wish him a lot of strength in the fight for the health of his loved ones,” the head of the government wrote.
Kubacki will not take part in any of the World Cup competitions this season. The jumper, who unexpectedly withdrew from Sunday’s competition in Norwegian Vikersund, informed that the reason for this decision was the illness of his wife, who was in a hospital in Nowy Targ, where doctors were fighting for her life.
Words of support for the athlete and his family come from many directions.
“In this difficult moment, we are all with Dawid Kubacki and his loved ones. We surround the whole family with good, kind thoughts, support and prayers for health. Dear Mr. Dawid, You have been for Poland for years and always and reliably for us. We are with the Lord,” he wrote President Andrzej Duda on Twitter.
