More funding needed for Haiti: Blinken

The secretary of State of the United States, Antony Blinkenmade an urgent call to increase funding for the international security force Haiti. At a press conference in the Haitian capital, The blink announced new humanitarian aid of $45 million and stressed the need for more funds and personnel to strengthen the mission, supported by Washington and the HIMwhich seeks to combat violence in the country.

Blinken also welcomed recent progress in preparing for elections, urging the creation of an electoral council “soon” to facilitate the 2025 elections.

The visit of The blink coincides with a growing impatience among the inhabitants of Port-au-Prince due to prolonged gang violence, which caused more than 578 thousand displaced people in the last year.
