More indigenization; Permit fee waiver for companies from June

Abu Dhabi: The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Indigenization has announced that from June 1, a large reduction in work permit fees will be given to private companies that have repatriated more than a certain percentage.

The company that hired three times the number of nationals had to pay 250 dirhams instead of 3750 for a worker’s work permit. Fees for work permits of Indigenous and GCC nationals in these companies are also waived.

Companies will be raised and lowered to different levels depending on the degree of localization. By law, companies that employ 50 or more people are required to carry out 2% repatriation per year in high-ranking positions. The ministry plans to increase this to 10% by 2026.
