New Delhi ∙ It is reported that Kerala has more number of Covid-19 victims in the country. According to the report released by the Center, the majority of the total number of Covid-19 patients in the country are in the states of Kerala, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Out of this, 26.4 percent of the total infected people are in Kerala. Maharashtra – 21.7%, Gujarat – 13.9%, Karnataka – 8.6% and Tamil Nadu – 6.3%.

In view of the rise in the number of Covid-19 patients, the central government has directed hospitals to conduct mock drills on April 11 and 12. The recommendations prepared jointly by the Union Ministry of Health and ICMR have been handed over to the states. Government and private hospitals in all districts have been asked to participate in MocDrill. This is to assess whether the hospitals are ready to deal with the increasing number of Covid cases.

Availability of medicines, inpatient beds, medical supplies and oxygen will also be assessed. More information about Mokdrill will be shared in the online meeting with the states on March 27. Some states are not doing enough covid tests and suggested that tests should be intensified.
