“Discord can confirm that approximately 4% of our staff has been laid off as part of a reorganization of some business units, and we are ensuring that those impacted are supported. We are focused on long-term business growth and delivering on our mission,” said a company spokesperson.

Very popular especially among the younger audience, Discord offers a chat application that allows the creation of independent servers and different channels. The presence of teenagers and children on the platform even raised questions from parents and authorities, especially after an article that revealed that criminals acted on the platform to abuse underage girls.

As part of measures to curb abuse, Discord recently launched a Family Center as an optional tool to better inform parents and guardians about their child’s activity on the app.

Another novelty on the way to the platform is the ability to stream gameplay from Xbox cnsoles directly in the application – the feature is scheduled to be launched in 2023. Read more about it here.
