MORE QUILTS TO “SHELTER”… IN CHICAGO AND KANSAS
A few months ago, the artist María Bueno, in collaboration with her mother Ángeles Castellano and a group of “quilters” in the US, embarked on creating quilts for women users of different pro-abortion clinics in different US states. .USA that still resist; among them Texas and now Chicago and Kansas, as a form of protest after the Law of June 24, 2022, in which the Supreme Court of the United States decided that the right of women to decide voluntarily, individually and privately Termination of her pregnancy, in turn guaranteed in the 14th Amendment of the United States Constitution, was dismissed.
After our visit to the clinic located in Las Cruces, Texas, and accompanied by men who join in and support us, quilts will be offered to the women at the Chicago Women’s Health Organization clinic in Chicago and at the clinic. Trust Women in Wichita, Kansas.
This project is related to the one that the artist herself already carried out with her mother in 2017, called “The Septine Chapel: The shelter of beings”, in which they created with multiple drawings an “immense protection” extended in which we feel protected, starting from the wall to the floor, thanks to a free interpretation of “Weaving the earthly mantle”, in turn the work of the artist Remedios Varo.
