More than 1.75 million tickets to attend the event of the Paralympic Games (August 28-September 8) have been sold, the organizers announced on Wednesday, a week before the start of the event. “We are delighted with the strength that has been established” especially from the start of the Olympic Games at the end of July, confirmed Michaël Aloïsio, deputy director general of Paris 2024, during a press conference. Since the beginning of the Olympics, 700,000 sales have been made.
Organizers did not give a target for total tickets sold for the tournament. There are still some 800,000, starting at 15 euros. Around ten sports are almost full, with more than 90% occupancy rate, mainly on “Points of Interest”consider Aloïsio, who mentions Versailles with horse riding, the Grand Palais for fencing and taekwondo or even the foot of the Eiffel Tower for blind football.
More than 500,000 tickets were collected for para sports, the leading sport in these Games. The expected audience is primarily French (92%) and family, with yet the start of the school year within two weeks of the competition. In total, some 4,400 athletes will participate in the tournament scheduled from August 28 to September 8.
