More than 12.5 million tons passed through the country’s roads

According to the report presented by Mintransporte, with information from the National Cargo Dispatch Registry (RNDC), a total of 12,540,417 tons of goods were transported throughout the national territory in the month of July.

Increase in cargo transportation and manifests

In July, 2,192 transport companies transported goods using 112,045 vehicles, generating 1,083,936 cargo manifests. This volume of movement represents an increase compared to the figures for the same period in 2023.

In addition, more than 527 million gallons of liquid cargo were transported.which represented an increase of 16% compared to July 2023. These operations, both solid and liquid cargo, were carried out in 1,074,668 trips, in contrast to the 871,680 trips recorded in July of the previous year.

Main goods transported

As for solid cargo, corn was the most transported product, with a total of 570,415 tons. This was followed by coal (440,663 tonnes) and products derived from cement, mortar, concrete and similar preparations (440,228 tonnes). These materials proved to be essential to the country’s economic activity, with infrastructure and energy standing out as key sectors.

In terms of liquid cargo, the main products were crude oil, with 170,928,136 gallons transported, followed by motor fuel or gasoline (95,559,904 gallons), and diesel fuel (76,487,031 gallons).

Regional distribution of freight transport

The department of Valle del Cauca led in terms of volume of tons transported, largely due to the traffic of vehicles that transit to and from Buenaventura, one of the most important ports in the country. Next in this list are the departments of Cundinamarca and Antioquia.

In terms of liquid cargo transportation, the Orinoquia region stood out as the origin and destination of most of the gallons mobilized, especially in the departments of Meta and Casanare, which highlights the relevance of these territories in the oil industry.

The data presented by the RNDC reflect a growth trend in the cargo transportation sector in Colombia.
