The 18th edition of the National Crafts Fair of Benin (SNAB) takes place from July 17 to 27, 2023 at Fidjrossè beach in Cotonou on the theme “Apprenticeship, a springboard towards professionalization”. For ten days, the know-how of Beninese craftsmen will be promoted through exhibitions of innovative local products. The Fair is organized by the Crafts Development Fund in collaboration with the Chamber of Crafts Trades of Benin under the patronage of the Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises and Employment Promotion.

“Promote Beninese crafts in all their diversity and equip craftsmen to face the challenges facing this sector”. This is the main objective of the 18th edition of the National Crafts Fair of Benin (SNAB) which is being held from July 17 to 27, 2023 by the sea in Cotonou. Organized by the Crafts Development Fund (FDA) in collaboration with the Chamber of Craft Trades of Benin (CMA) under the patronage of the Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises and Employment Promotion (MPMEPE), this fair, which will bring together more than one hundred and fifty (150) craftsmen and craft businesses, is an opportunity for the thousands of craftsmen in Benin to learn about market requirements and the opportunities available to them and to present their products to a large public. from various walks of life. After a suspension in 2017, the National Crafts Fair opens again with innovations. The Snab therefore wants to be an important meeting place for business and opportunities for the promotion and enhancement of the know-how of Beninese and African craftsmen. For the president of the Chamber of Craft Trades (Cma-Benin), Imorou Soufiyanou, this edition of Snab can be considered as that of the revival of the craft profession in our country. According to him, actors in Beninese crafts have entered a new era since the completion of profound reforms in the sector. It should be noted that Burkina Faso is the distinguished guest of the 18th edition of Snab, notably through the International Crafts Fair of Ouagadougou (Siao). In the shade of the tents erected at Fidjrossè plage, 150 exhibitors including 20 from Togo, Burkina Faso and Côte d’Ivoire take part in this show. You can find, among other things, products from the textile and fashion industry, the food industry, arts and crafts and decoration, and the cosmetics industry. Proceeding to the opening of the Fair, the director of cabinet of the Minister of Small and medium-sized enterprises and the promotion of Employment, Edouard Sèhlin made it known that it is an appointment for the promotion, enhancement and marketing of craft products. “The Snab will contribute over time to building national and international notoriety which will make it the largest Beninese craftsman market and whose level of professionalism will be the pride and admiration of all”, he reassured. As the crafts sector is a sector with high potential for job and wealth creation, Snab 2023 aims to be a framework for bringing together innovations and developments in Beninese know-how in the crafts sector. Initiated reflections have also made it possible to give the event a professional and innovative character. Note that Snab 2023 will bring together more than 150 artisans and craft businesses. It is the promotion of local products that is done through this fair.
