More than 17,000 Athletes Unite for Bogotá’s Inspiring Women’s Race

In ‘Bogotá, My City, My Home’ we support sports. From 6:30 in the morning, the doors of the Simón Bolívar Metropolitan Park opened to welcome more than 17,000 athletes to run one of the most popular sporting events in recent years in Bogotá, which is the Women’s Race.

The race featured different distances for the athletes, such as 5K, 10K, and 21K. Before the start, a half-hour warm-up was conducted to prevent injuries among the athletes. Additionally, in the days leading up to the race, with the work of the Urban Development Institute (IDU), we renewed 630,000 m2 of road mesh.

Moreover, the mayor, Carlos Fernando Galán, attended the Women’s Race and was accompanied by Colombian sports figures like cyclist Egan Bernal.

More than 17,000 people ran between 5, 10, and 21 kilometers through the streets of the city. These types of events demonstrate the determination and commitment of individuals to achieve their goals.

One of the goals of the Women’s Race is for individuals to experience the values of sports and thus elevate their lives to higher standards of health, motivation, productivity, and sensitivity. Moreover, through physical activity, individuals begin to adopt habits of responsibility, discipline, and also gain self-awareness.

Additionally, in ‘Bogotá, My City, My Home’ we prepared for the Women’s Race with a renewal of 630,000 square meters of road mesh, thanks to the work of the Urban Development Institute (IDU), which represents 60% of the roads intervened in the city.
