More than 188 thousand voters received their cards for the municipal elections, and Al-Sayeh seeks ways of international support

The High National Elections Commission announced that the final tally of voters who received their cards to participate in the 60 targeted municipal council elections reached 188,868 voters.

The Commission indicated that the total percentage of card receipts reached 90% of voters.

The Commission explained that the total number of male voters who received their cards was 132,368, representing 89% of those registered in the voter registry.

The total number of female voters who received their cards reached 56,500, representing 92% of those registered in the voter register.

In turn, the Chairman of the Commission, Imad Al-Sayeh, discussed with the new Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program in Libya, Sophie Kimkhedza, the latest developments in the electoral process, and ways for the international community to support the Commission through supporting expertise in the field of election management and implementation.

According to the Commission, Kimkhedza praised the Commission’s efforts in the stages of the electoral process, which were completed on time, stressing the commitment of donor countries to strengthening the democratic path in Libya until the expected electoral entitlements are completed.
