More than 20 Russian ships begin exercises in the Black Sea

More than 20 ships of the Black Sea Fleet will take part in the exercises in the Black Sea, the ships left their bases in Sevastopol and Novorossiysk and moved to the designated areas of the water area, the Ministry of Defense said.

The exercises will be attended by frigates, patrol ships, small missile ships and missile boats, landing ships, small anti-submarine ships and minesweepers, which will be assembled into heterogeneous groups.

“On the way to the designated areas, the crews of the ships will conduct a series of exercises and trainings on organizing communications, safe maneuvering in areas with intensive navigation, and organizing air defense at sea,” the Ministry of Defense said.

Earlier today, the press service of the Northern Fleet announced the start of exercises in the Barents Sea with the participation of the ships of the Northern Fleet and the Arctic Expeditionary Group of Forces and Troops. The missile cruiser “Marshal Ustinov”, the frigate “Admiral of the Fleet Kasatonov”, the large anti-submarine ship “Vice-Admiral Kulakov” and support vessels went to sea. During the exercises, the crews will work out the interaction of the diverse forces of the fleet to ensure the safety of sea lanes and areas of Russia’s maritime economic activity in the northern seas in crisis situations.
