More than 20,000 foreigners are reported to have taken up arms against Russia in Ukraine. This was reported by The Kyiv Independent, an English language newspaper in Ukraine. The figures are as of March 6.

Foreign nationals can apply for Ukrainian citizenship if they wish, the newspaper reported, citing the Ukrainian Minister of Interior. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Selensky has called for the formation of an “international force” comprising foreigners willing to fight for Ukraine.
