More than 38,000 Mercedes-Benz vehicles to be recalled in Russia due to brake problems

by time news

In Russia, 38,252 Mercedes-Benz vehicles sold from 2004 to 2014 will be recalled due to possible problems with vacuum brake boosters, according to Rosstandart. It is specified that the Mercedes-Benz GL (W164), Mercedes-Benz ML (W164) and the R-Class minivan (W251) fell under the recall campaign.

The fact is that on these cars, corrosion forms at the junction of the brake boosters. “Due to the long life of the car and due to exposure to large amounts of water, this corrosion can lead to leaks in the vacuum brake booster, which can reduce the braking force,” Rosstandart noted. In other words, the connection between the brake pedal and the brake system will be broken, as a result of which the driver will have to press harder on the pedal.

To check the car and fix a possible problem, car owners need to contact the nearest official dealership. The inspection and necessary replacement work will be free of charge for car owners.

A recall campaign for Mercedes-Benz cars due to brake booster corrosion was announced in the US and Canada back in mid-May. Then, more than 320,000 vehicles produced from 2006 to 2012 fell under it. Later, in early June, the company announced a recall of almost 1 million vehicles worldwide for the same reason, as reported by the editorial association RND, citing the DPA agency.
