More than 46,000 points of sale controlled from January 1 to March 5 (Mr. Baitas)

Rabat – A total of 46,361 points of sale were checked, from January 1 to March 5, as part of government measures aimed at ensuring the supply of markets with basic products, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan, said , Thursday in Rabat, the Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament, government spokesperson, Mustapha Baitas.

During this period, 2,983 offenses were noted, including 545 which were the subject of warnings to offenders, and 2,438 reports were drawn up and transmitted to the competent courts, added Mr. Baitas in response to a question on the measures taken by the government to guarantee the supply of markets in anticipation of the month of Ramadan, during a press briefing following the Government Council.

The minister also reported the seizure and destruction, during the same period, of 120 tonnes of products unfit for consumption and non-compliant with the regulatory standards in force in this context, noting that the government and the provincial commissions and prefectural authorities carry out checks throughout the year.

In addition, Mr. Baitas assured that the government attaches “very great importance” to the issue of supply during Ramadan, recalling the holding of a series of meetings at the central, provincial and local levels in order to assess the supply of different markets with consumer products in general, and those with high demand during the holy month in particular.
