Amid the political turmoil following the controversial Venezuelan elections of July 28, in which Nicolás Maduro emerged victorious, a recent Invamer survey highlights the growing concerns of Colombians about the possibility of facing a similar future.
The study, carried out at the request of Noticias Caracol and Blu Radio, indicates that 50.9% of Colombians fear that their country could experience a situation similar to that of Venezuela. On the other hand, 47.2% of respondents do not share this view.

The same poll shows broad support for the restoration of relations between Colombia and Venezuela, a policy implemented by President Gustavo Petro at the beginning of his term. According to the data, 63.3% of the participants support this measure, while 33.6% are against it and 3.1% preferred not to express an opinion.
Regarding President Petro’s management, the survey reveals that only 34.6% of respondents approve of his performance.in contrast to 58.3% who disapprove. These figures are similar to those recorded in May 2023, when approval was 34% and disapproval 59%, although they reflect a notable drop since November 2022, when approval reached 50%.
Data collection for this survey was conducted between July 26 and 29, 2024, with a sample of 1,200 surveys distributed across 54 municipalities in Colombia, including 15 capitals.
