More than 60 Asturian companies, on the list of large defaulters of the Tax Agency

More than 60 Asturian companies appear on the tenth list of large debtors with the Treasury, those that at the end of 2022 owed more than 600,000 euros. This year’s relationship is marked by the jurisprudence established by the Supreme Court in judgments of January and February, which establish the obligation that debts and tax penalties must be firm to appear on the list.

The large Asturian defaulters with the Treasury have debts that total more than 136 million euros. By sectors, companies related to construction stand out. Many are companies that are in the liquidation phase since the bursting of the housing bubble. Essentium, owned by the Asturian Monge family, is the one with the highest debt, of more than 11.1 million euros, but companies also linked to the brick sector and real estate development include companies such as Coprosa, Contratas Iglesias, Cedur, Asturcasa-Principado, Fontoria 2000, El Caleyo Derivados, Elecinco Construcciones 1994, Formwork Tarna, Esdehor, Excarpri, Fontela, La Amistad Real Estate, Jesús Martínez Álvarez, Joama, Naranco 2000, Residencial Vegasol, Principal Real Estate Developments, Asturian Real Estate Promotions, Moro Promotions, Residencial Vegasol or Predisa Rubiera.

Several industrial companies that ceased their activity in recent years also appear on the list, such as Alu Ibérica, Factorías Juliana, Fundición Nodular, Indemesa, Sodes, Temper or Vetro Tool, and coal mining companies that had operations in Asturias, such as Coto Minero Cantábrico, Unión Minera del Norte (Uminsa) and Campañía Minera Astur Leonesa, which has a debt of 10.5 million euros.

With respect to lists from previous years, the increase in debtors linked to the agricultural and forestry sectors stands out. Thus, there are feed and fertilizer companies such as Ceforepi and Vacunastur, and forest management and wood companies such as Hercadelval, Medioambiental Canto or Trabajos Forestales Bueres Celorio. There are also several companies in the automotive sector such as 2002 Sport Móvil, Arquiveca, Automoción Antón e Hijos, Fashion Company Esquibel, Reparaciones Comercial y Respuestos or Servimotor Asturias; from the energy sector such as Beta Grupo and Energía Astur; from the hospitality sector such as Hostura, Ramiro Jaquete, Asturrobledo or La Campana Restaurant, and from transport such as Grupo Canastur 1989, Logística Berrón Noreña or Traiglefer.

Referee and footballer

Outside of Asturias, the entry on the list of former referee José María Enríquez Negreira and soccer player Malcom Filipe Silva de Oliveira stands out with debts of 1.2 and 0.82 million euros, respectively. Also joining this year’s list are ToysRUs Iberia, with a debt of 3.06 million euros, and Pullmantur Cruises (0.96 million). Among the well-known people who leave the list are former minister Rodrigo Rato, footballers Dani Alves and Samuel Eto’o, businessman José María Aristrain, chef Sergi Arola and television personality Kiko Matamoros. The actress Paz Vega, the former banker Mario Conde, the businessman Agapito García or the presenter Patricia Conde continue on the list.
