It will be used for commuter lines, the high-speed line to Extremadura, corridors and stations

Adif and Adif Alta Velocidad have contracted, for the amount of 60 million euros, new rail supplies to promote actions in the railway network, aimed at suburban trains, high speed, the Atlantic and Mediterranean Corridors and the transformation of large stations.

(28/04/2023)

The four new supply contracts involve the contribution of 30,874 tons of rail, shaped iron bars and rolled steel, which are assembled in parallel on the railway lines to support and guide the trains. Its manufacture and supply has been awarded to ArcelorMittal.

Adif will use this lane in various actions that it promotes within the framework of the Madrid Commuter Plan, such as the expansion of the network to Soto del Real or the doubling of the Pinar de Las Rozas-Las Matas section, and the Cantabria Commuter Plan: track duplications between Muriedas and Santander and Renedo-Guarnizo.

It will also be used to advance projects for the development of the high-speed network, such as the connection of this network with the Madrid-Barajas-Adolfo Suárez airport or the construction of the Riquelme-Torre Pacheco section of the Murcia-Cartagena line, which forms part of the Mediterranean Corridor.

Atlantic corridor

The material will also be used in the works carried out in the Atlantic Corridor, specifically, in the assembly of tracks in the second section of the Madrid-Extremadura high-speed line, on the route between Navalmoral de la Mata-Casatejada; and the implementation of the standard gauge between Astigarraga and Irún, the connection of the high-speed network being built in the Basque Country with the French border.

This rail contribution will also be used in the expansion, remodeling and improvement of the Valencia-Fuente de San Luis intermodal terminal, a strategic point of the Mediterranean Corridor and one of Adif’s strategic intermodal nodes to promote the transport of goods by rail.

Likewise, it will be used in the remodeling and transformation works of some passenger stations, such as the one in A Coruña-San Cristovo, in order to adapt them to the increase in traffic derived from the new lines and liberalization and turn them into centers of the new sustainable, intelligent and connected mobility.
