ABU DHABI: Four lucky winners have won AED 250,000 each through Big Ticket weekly draws throughout the month of June. Indian and Filipino construction workers, private drivers and restaurant workers are among the winners. Winners living in UAE and Qatar, along with their friends, bought tickets through Big Ticket’s Buy Two Get One Free offer. The winners will share the prize money with their group members. In the month of June alone, the lives of 63 people were changed through the Big Ticket weekly e-draw.
D’Cruz Sebastian, first weekly e-draw winner
D’Cruz Sebastian is the first lucky winner. Being an Indian, he received a phone call from Big Ticket that he won 250,000 dirhams in the first week of June. A long-time resident of the GCC, D’Cruz settled in the UAE in 2001. After staying there for nine years, he moved to Qatar in 2010. D’Cruz is a blue-collar worker at a construction company called NCC International. He started working here for the first time while living in the UAE. He expressed his happiness when he received the call confirming his winning, adding that he came to know about the big ticket through many people. He will share the prize money with eight friends, who will spend the money to try their luck at the big ticket every month for the past year.
Suraj Lal, 2nd weekly e-draw winner, June
Suraj Lal won the second weekly e-draw in June and bagged Dh250,000. Suraj Lal is an Indian living in Sharjah. He has been living in UAE for 16 years. Every month for the last four years, Suraj Lal has been collecting money to buy the big ticket with his friends. This group started with 10 people and now has 13 people. They will share the prize money. Sooraj was overjoyed when the Big Ticket representatives called and informed him about the prize. He said that the plan is to spend a part of the prize money on the family.
Muhammad Shamnaz, third weekly e-draw winner, June
The winner of the third weekly e-draw for the month of June, Muhammad Shamnaz from India bagged AED 250,000. He works in a restaurant in Qatar making sandwiches and burgers. He said that for the past two years, he has been sharing money with 30 friends to buy big tickets. This time the prize money will be divided equally among the team members.
Rosemary Mankune, 4th weekly e-draw winner, June
The fourth weekly e-draw winner for the month of June is Rosemary Mangunay from the Philippines. They screamed with joy when the Big Ticket representatives informed them that they had won Dh250,000. A resident of Abu Dhabi, Rosemary has been living in the UAE for the past 14 years. Here she is a private driver of a family. Every month for over a year, Rosemary and 12 friends would buy the big ticket. Among them are Indians and Pakistanis. The team consists of taxi drivers, security guards and driving instructors. The ticket they bought in May brought good luck. Asked what she would do with the prize money, which was their second raffle ticket number, Rosemary said she would use some of the money to care for her elderly father and the rest for the future of her three children, aged 27, 22 and 18.
