‘More than 700 farmers would still be alive if it had been decided earlier’

New Delhi: BJP MP Varun Gandhi has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi after he announced that he would withdraw three controversial agricultural laws. He reminded the Prime Minister that more than 700 farmers would still be alive if the decision had been taken earlier and demanded compensation of Rs 1 crore to the families of those killed during the strike.

Varun Gandhi demanded that all politically motivated fake police cases against farmers be withdrawn and that a minimum support price be guaranteed for agricultural produce. ‘I thank you for your generosity in announcing the repeal of these three laws. More than 700 of our farming brothers and sisters have been martyred in the struggle. They protested peacefully even in adverse circumstances. I believe that if the decision had been taken earlier, the lives of more than 700 innocent people would not have been lost, ”he said in the letter.

‘All politically motivated FIRs registered against farmers should be canceled immediately. This agitation will not end without addressing the demand of the farmers. There will be widespread anger between them. It will continue to emerge in one form or another, ”the letter said.

The letter also mentions that eight people were killed last month when a vehicle driven by Union Minister Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish Mishra crashed in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh. ‘This heartbreaking incident is a disgrace to our democracy. My request is that appropriate action be taken against the Union Minister involved in the incident and a fair inquiry be held ‘- Varun Gandhi wrote in the letter.
