Santiago, May 28, 2023.- “Creators of Heritage: knowledge for the future”. That was the title of the exhibition created by the Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation as part of the activities carried out this weekend to celebrate Heritage Day this Sunday.

Just at 10 in the morning, the doors of the space installed in front of the Ministry’s offices on Morandé street, in the center of Santiago, opened. “We are very proud that our pioneers of science and technology in Chile, those who dared and paved the way for so many women, have been part of this heritage festival today. They are human patrimony and making them visible is part of our role as a ministry”, highlighted the Minister of Science, Aisén Etcheverry.

Undersecretary Carolina Gainza said that activities like these “show the interest that science and knowledge generate in people of all ages.” “That is precisely one of the tasks of our ministry. Make available to the community the research that is carried out in Chile and that has been done for many years. The history and contribution of these five pioneering women, scientists, who were part of the sample we carried out, are an example of this.

In addition to the legacy of these five women, the Ministry of Science highlighted five physical places linked to the generation and dissemination of knowledge made in Chile. Thus, the families that attended the exhibition remembered spaces such as the National Astronomical Observatory, the “La Morada” women’s house, the Santiago Institute of Hygiene, the State Railway Company and the National Museum of Natural History.
