Riyadh: They tried to smuggle more than 700,000 drugs in a watermelon in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. 765,000 amphetamine tablets were seized by the General Directorate of Narcotics Control. Major Mohammad Al Najidi, the directorate’s official spokesperson, said that five people, including two natives and three Syrian citizens, were arrested in connection with this.

Those arrested have been handed over to the concerned departments for further legal action. Authorities are thwarting drug smuggling efforts in various parts of Saudi Arabia. Authorities recently foiled an attempt to smuggle 47 million amphetamine pills.

These are worth between 470 million and 1 billion dollars in the international market. This is the largest known smuggling attempt of its kind in the country. The authorities informed that six Syrians and two Pakistanis have been arrested in connection with this. According to the report, the Saudi public prosecutor has started further investigation following the raid.

In the X-ray examination, some abnormal objects were noticed inside his stomach. With this, he was shifted to Salmaniya Medical Complex. Drug tablets were found inside the body at the hospital. He took out all the 83 pills on six occasions.

When the capsules were subjected to a detailed examination, they were found to contain drugs. When his urine was tested, the presence of hashish was also found.
