The low pressure area found in the southwestern Bay of Bengal continues east of Sri Lanka. The announcement was made by the Forecasting Division of the National Meteorological Center.

Cloudy skies are expected across the country and foggy conditions are expected in the central highlands, especially in the morning.

Occasional showers or thundershowers are likely in most parts of the country.
Heavy rainfall of more than 100 mm is expected in the Northern, North Central, Upper, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces and in some places in Puttalam, Batticaloa and Trincomalee districts.

Elsewhere in the country, moderate to heavy rainfall of more than 75 mm is expected in some places.
Occasionally there will be strong winds during thundershowers. The public is advised to take necessary precautionary measures to minimize the damages caused by lightning strikes.
