More than 8 thousand kids participated in the II Papagayo Festival

The mayoress of the Libertador municipality, A/J Carmen Meléndez, and the head of the Government of Caracas, Nahum Fernández, presented this Saturday prizes and recognitions to more than eight thousand children, young people and adolescents who participated in the II Parrot Festival, as an act prior to the cultural, religious and recreational agenda of Holy Week 2023.

From the Ali Primera Park in the west of the capital city, hundreds of families came to build and fly the flying kites, which flew through the skies, as part of the rescue of traditional games by the Caracas authorities, reported the state channel.

Nahum Fernández pointed out that this Saturday marks the 23rd anniversary of the creation of the Organic Law for the Protection of Boys, Girls and Adolescents (Lopna), with which Commander Hugo Chávez Frías deepened the protection of minors. “And in that framework, from Chávez’s momentous change to the protection of children, we are following his example.”

He reported that this Sunday the activities will continue with the takeover of the Los Caobos and Ezequiel Zamora Parks and the public spaces of the capital, within the commemoration of Holy Week 2023, with a religious agenda in Christian temples and the recreational and cultural one that addresses more than 1,300 communities throughout Caracas.

“That’s right, we have security for the people, we will be Barrio Adentro in the communities and in various squares and parks in Caracas,” said Mayor Meléndez, who also invited this Palm Sunday to the blessing of the palms.

“This Sunday we will be in the churches for the blessing of the blessed palm, which has already lowered the palms, and we will have a mass between 4 to 5 in the afternoon on Paseo Los Próceres, we invite those who want to participate for the blessing of the palms ”, advanced Melendez.

As part of the agenda, Plaza El Venezolano will be the scene of a special exhibition of the season, and on Wednesday the procession of El Nazareno de San Pablo will take place, with a previous mass in Plaza Diego Ibarra. “And then the procession for the parishioners who will pay their promises in the Santa Teresa church.”

The capital authorities guaranteed that the different religious, cultural and recreational activities will be to be with the family, enjoying spirituality, prayer and family union. “Stay united as a family with all the communities,” explained the mayor of Caracas.

“And from Thursday we put on our bathing suits and we go to Los Próceres, with swimming pools, inflatable mattresses, to spend Thursday, Friday and Saturday in a greater week of joy”, completed Nahum Fernández.

Finally, the mayoress invited again to enjoy healthily and with the family these days of recollection and rest. “Celebrate the life of our Lord Jesus Christ and this Easter Sunday in the Santa Rosalía parish we will have the Burning of Judas, another tradition of Holy Week,” she concluded.
